7-Eleven Advises Franchisees To Pull Energy Drink

"Cocaine" Drink Was Pulled, Now 7-Eleven Advises Franchisees to Stop Selling SPIKE drink.

7-Eleven will shortly send a letter to its franchisees asking them to pull a caffeinated energy drink from its shelves due to side-effects among teens ranging from rapid heart rates to vomiting. The chain's corporate stores today pulled SPIKE Shooters, an 8 ounce drink with 3 times the caffeine of a cup of coffee.

A spokeswoman for 7-Eleven said Friday that SPIKE is a "non-recommended product from a non-approved vendor. There are more issues than just the product itself," she told TheDenverChannel.com, explaining that 7-Eleven has questions about how the product is distributed and the labeling.[via CS News]
