Papa John's Founder Changes Position

Founder Steps Out of Payroll, Compensated By Stocks

LOUISVILLE, Kent. (Blue MauMau) - Papa John's International, Inc. announced a change in position for founder John Schnatter. He is stepping out from the title of Executive Chairman to Non-Employee, Founder Chairman. Schnatter requested to serve without cash compensation, receiving only company stock options. He will continue to be seen in the media as Papa John's advertising and brand spokesperson.

"With Nigel Travis having led the company for the last two years as president and CEO, and the strength of our Board and the management team supporting him, the time is right for me to pull back a bit from the day-to-day operation of the company," stated Schnatter. "I'm fine working for stock options alone – that way, I get compensated only if the rest of the shareholders win through a stock price increase."
