Discovery Day

Today's cartoon reminds me of Discovery Days. A "Discovery Day" is a specific day that franchisers invite potential franchise buyers to discover more about their franchise concept. Candidates hope to receive a stamp of approval by the franchiser to own a franchise in their system.  Franchisers want to create the best possible impression to potential franchise buyers. In my experience of leading and selling franchises in a fairly large franchise system, franchise development executives and managers typically take candidates to stores around the head office, where candidates can speak with real franchise owners and get the low down on owning a franchise. It is taking candidates to speak with franchise owners that this cartoon reminds me of.
