The military has ranked the best franchises for veterans to own. Rolling out at #1 is Coverall Cleaning, whose franchisees federal judge William Young ruled were really employees. Many of its franchisees struggle to make the equivalent of minimum wage.

Some of the most failure-prone franchise systems are in the complete list, like AAMCO Transmissions, ranked as the fourth worst as of 2008 of franchisees unable to make enough money to pay back their SBA-backed loans. It should be noted that of the world's largest and most established franchise chains, only 7-Eleven makes the top ten list. There are no McDonald's, Subway or others. But there is gold thrown amidst the fool's gold in this list of franchises that researcher Frandata has provided and sorted.
