Blue MauMau Featured in Today's Orange County Register, Experts Advise Shoppers to Prepare Before Buying a Franchise
Editor's note: A couple of weeks ago, small business reporter Jan Norman contacted me for a franchise article in the Orange County Register, Southern California. What resulted was a collaborative work in which Blue MauMau's members contributed.
ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. (Blue MauMau) - The Orange County Register leads off its Money Section today by asking Blue MauMau's community of franchise experts on how buyers should prepare for the West Coast Franchise Expo. The show is scheduled for this coming weekend at the LA Convention Center. Small business columnist and blogger Jan Norman featured Blue MauMau members who answered last week's question, "How Should a Franchise Wannabee Utilize a Franchise Show?"
So what should a franchise shopper keep in mind while attending the Franchise Expo? Here's a few bits of advice:
"To help you remember information: Take a notebook along to the show." - Jenny Buchan, attorney who's working on a doctorate in franchising
"Have some fun! Grab brochures, sample some food. Talk to other attendees. Talk to the franchise companies. Go home. Digest." - Joel Libava, franchise broker
"When you are buying from a new franchisor (disproportionately represented at such expos), you should consider the empirical data on how likely it is that your (franchisor) will still be in business 10 years from now." - Paul Steinberg, attorney and past franchisee
