Dunkin' Memo Is "One Step Short of a Threat"

Franchisee Association: Dunkin' Action Yet Another Strategy to Cut Ties, Ask Questions Later

BELLINGHAM, Mass. (Blue MauMau) -  Mark A. Dubinsky, President of Dunkin' Donuts Independent Franchise Owners, Inc., issued a statement today regarding Dunkin' Brands corporate memorandum to franchisees, which was reported on Blue MauMau yesterday. In the document, company officials were responding to lawsuit allegations that Dunkin' was discriminating against "brown-skinned" minorities to deprive them of their franchises. The published statement from Mr. Dubinsky is as follows:

“The Company’s  Memorandum is one step short of a threat against franchise owners. As the largest and oldest organization of independent Dunkin’ Donuts Franchise Owners, the DDIFO takes an interest in any legal proceedings the company takes against franchise owners who are innocent until proven guilty. While it is too early to fully discuss the Patels’ New York case, Dunkin’ Brand’s actions appear to be another example of their strategy to cut ties first and ask questions later.

We invite Dunkin’ Brands to include the DDIFO in discussions on issues that are important to our franchisee / members. We are always willing to talk with senior management and help them better understand their franchise owners' positions.”
