Tasti D-Lite Frozen Yogurt at the Tents

NEW YORK CITY (Blue MauMau) - One of New York's frozen yogurt treats sponsored the Mercedes Benz New York Fashion week. From September 5-12, fashionistas watched models parade on a catwalk at the top of the hour. They could also scoop up a Tasti-D-Lite treat in the Bryant Park tents from girls serving fashion flavors like Va Va Voom Vanilla Marshmallow and Haute Chocolate.

The first Tasti D-Lite frozen yogurt treat swirled into history in 1987 as the popularity for frozen yogurt hit a high. Competitor TCBY has seen a lackluster decade of late and its holding company is undergoing bankruptcy procedures. The industry has recently seen strong growth from LA-based Pinkberry franchise system. Pinkberry grew from one store in 2005 to 61 in 2008.

Tasti D-Lite's new CEO, Jim Amos, plans to turbocharge the industry through aggressive franchise sales. From its office in Franklin, Tennessee, Tasti D-Lite is pushing full speed ahead to build a 500-center franchise network in just five years. The company touts being led by a world-class operating team who helped lead Mail Boxes Etc. (The UPS Store), Sona Medspa, 24Seven Vending, and I Can't Believe It's Yogurt.

Tasti D-Lite was acquired in 2007 by NY-based private equity group SPG Partners LLC.
