More Franchise Chains Announce Cutting Trans-Fat
Last month KFC announced all its 5,500 U.S. fried-chicken restaurants would switch to a cooking oil with no trans fats by April 2007. Now even more major fast-food franchise chains are getting lean by cutting trans-fat. Here's today's news:
- McDonald's announced it will cut trans fats in Europe by 2008 (Reuters).
- Souper Salad also joins the trans-fat free train. It will remove trans fats from its restaurants by Dec. 12 (PR Newswire)
- And IHOP Corp., the operator of more than 1,200 pancake restaurants in North America, said that it was testing trans-fat-free oil as other restaurants begin making the switch to the more healthful ingredient. (LA Times )
