In a move that pleased franchisees but disappointed some investors, Wendy's appointed their interim Chief Ms. Kerii Anderson as its permanent CEO. LITTLE CAESER'S HELPS VETERANS
To show appreciation to those who served in the military, Little Caesar Enterprises Inc. launched a program on Veterans Day that will provide honorably discharged and injured veterans with thousands of dollars of assistance to open a Little Caesars franchise. [Detroit News]
FAST-FOOD BANDIT & OTHER CRIMES
Kentucky authorities have organized a task force to catch a thief who has robbed 28 fast food restaurants in Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana in the last two years. The thief, dubbed the 'fast-food bandit', robs Burger King and Arby's wearing a scarf or a ski mask and orders employees into a walk-in freezer. [AP]
In another fast-food crime, three suspects were arrested in connection with an armed robbery that occurred at a Wendy's fast-food restaurant in Rialto, California. Although shots were fired at police who were chasing the suspects on foot, no one was injured. [Daily Bulletin]
COSI TO OPEN 50 NEW FRANCHISES
Cosi's, who has only 9 franchises, plans to expand to 50 new franchise locations next year, as well as updated menus, and change store designs to boost corporate profits from a loss of almost $2 million in its 3rd quarter. Franchising will be a big part of the company's new push. [GlobeSt.com]
