Quiznos Answers Questions on Growth and Settlement

DENVER — In an attempt to find out the status of Quiznos’ latest marketing strategies and the pending court decision on the $206 million class action settlement agreement, Blue MauMau contacted its corporate headquarters.

Although Quiznos declined an interview, a spokesperson for the company responded to questions.

BMM: Has Quiznos had any communications with the Illinois District Court judge regarding her decision on the settlement agreement, since the hearing on June 29?

Quiznos:  We cannot comment on pending litigation.

BMM:  What is the status of the Operating Partners Program?  Does Quiznos still plan to have 600 new corporate stores by the end of 2010?

Quiznos:  Quiznos is aggressively pursuing growth through both corporate-owned and franchised locations. As a privately held company, we do not share specifics toward those growth goals.

As reported in a previous article, the sub sandwich chain launched and aggressively promoted its Operating Partner Program, as well as announced it will add 600 company-owned restaurants to the system by the end of 2010.

UPDATE TO ARTICLE:   When Blue MauMau called Quiznos' Franchisee Help Line after hours last night, the automated recording stated, "If you are experiencing an issue causing a store closure, please press 1. For all other inquiries, press 2."

It is highly unusual for a franchise system to have so many closures that they have an automated number to deal with it. Even more unusual is that store closures are listed as #1, first and foremost on its help line.
