AAHOA 2007 Annual Convention & Trade Show
The Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) will host its premier event, the AAHOA Annual Convention and Trade Show , at the Charlotte Convention Center (pictured) in Charlotte, North Carolina from Wednesday, March 7 through Saturday, March 10.
Thousands of AAHOA’s 8,300 members will be in attendance at what is now one of the hospitality industry’s top events. Together the members own more than 20,000 hotels, with over one million rooms, representing over 50% of economy lodging properties and almost 37% of all hotel properties in the U.S. Of the hotels owned by AAHOA members, approximately 12,700 are franchised, while 7,300 are independent. The market value of the properties owned by AAHOA members is estimated to be $29.9 billion in franchised properties and $8.1 billion in independent properties.
Jay Patel, the Co-Chair for the Convention, says that the event is “not only for hotel owners, but also for those who want to own a hotel or other business.” He says that before anyone invests in a business, it is very important to be educated in starting and owning a hotel, franchise restaurant or other types of businesses. A franchising workshop at the convention will give potential investors the tools to understanding a franchise agreement, licensing, and other issues that will need to be addressed before business can be commenced. The theme of the convention, “Taking Charge, Leading Together,” brings together impressive and well-known speakers of diverse backgrounds: business advisor and author Ram Charan, former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer, and Joe Theismann, former Washington Redskins quarterback and now an analyst for ESPN’s Monday Night Football. The agenda also includes top-quality educational-seminars pertinent to the hotel industry, and the very best in Indian entertainment and cuisine.
