Susan Parker was teaching art at local pre-schools in Montgomery, AL and was just beginning to expand her business when, as she says, “a big word hit town – Abrakadoodle!”  Susan learned more about this international art education program for children, as a growing number of sites in her area began to offer Abrakadoodle programs.  “I kept bumping up against them with many of the marketing calls I made.  They kept telling me they had Abrakadoodle!”

Susan says it was a stroke of luck that one day in her doctor’s office she heard that the then Abrakadoodle franchise owner, Lynn Knighton, was thinking of selling her business and moving her family to a new area.  She began to consider purchasing Lynn’s business and leveraging the power of the Abrakadoodle international brand and systems.  Susan went from “competitor” to Abrakadoodle franchise owner and since then has more than quadrupled her students and revenues.

“The business grows itself,” says Susan, “being part of the Abrakadoodle franchise system has opened up new opportunities for my business.  We are able to gain access into more schools and sites in the community because of the many different kinds of programs we offer.  It has enabled me to plan my business on a larger scale – and with Abrakadoodle’s on-going curriculum development and support systems, build a sizable business.”

As an educator Susan finds true value in what Abrakadoodle offers children in her program.  “Children have begun with us as little bitty pre-schoolers and have stayed with us right up into elementary schools. We do their birthday parties, and see them again in our classes and camps!”  She says, “It has been a joy to see how the skills of our students develop over time in the Abrakadoodle program.”

Susan continues to dream big dreams and make big plans for expanding her Abrakadoodle franchise business.  Recently she added a marketing coordinator, Casey Weaver to accelerate her business growth.   Casey left her position as a preschool teacher after experiencing the value of the Abrakadoodle program – she enrolled her son in an Abrakadoodle class and fell in love with Abrakadoodle!  Watch out Montgomery, AL, Abrakadoodle is moving to new heights!
