Another New Franchisors Experience
Here is my story.
Firstly, my career and reputation are of utmost importance to me. I am a member of the Pinnacle Society - The Pinnacle Society is the nation's premier consortium of 75 of the top recruiters within the permanent placement and search industry. I have served on the board of directors of NAPS – The National Association of Personnel Services, a volunteer organization dedicated to upholding the ethics and education of the recruitment industry, and I have worked in 3 countries over my 20 year career in the recruitment industry.
I was of the belief that we were in the process of being registered in California and that we had done all the right things.
I believed this because I was told this by the expert that I had hired and paid $80,000 to for his advice and guidance. I have written documentation from him stating that our UFOC was complete and we were ok to go ahead and start selling franchises in July 2007.
I am thankful to bluemaumau for bringing to my attention that the information I had received was not accurate as I am a new franchisor and have every intention of doing things right - the reason I hired an expert and paid him over $80,000 for his expertise and experience, and that is why, the minute I heard that we had been pointed in the wrong direction, I contacted a different franchise attorney who has previously worked for the California Department of Corporations to put us on the right track to ensure that our documentation is perfect. This has cost us another $50,000.
Like Jason, my goal was and is to grow a strong, "people focused" franchise for those interested in my type of work.
I agree with Jason when he says: “There are people out there who are interested in building and offering ‘quality' in franchising”…. I am one of them and thanks to our new franchise attorney we have done everything we had to do and Unlimited MedSearch is registered with the Commissioner of Corporations to sell franchises and its Franchise Disclosure Document has been authorized for use. It has been a very expensive and stressful education but we are where we need to be and I look forward to turning my full attention to doing what I do best.... training my new franchisee’s to become the best of the best in the healthcare recruiting industry.
