Australian Small Business Migrant Strategy

Asian Australian’s in particular are contributing to the growth of franchising as a product of consecutive governments to back a small business strategy to enhance the economy.   For more than two decades immigrants have been enticed to bring their skills and wealth to Australia. The franchising industry has capitalized on the evolution of the process.

But increasingly, those who have worked their way up from the factory floor are being joined by a new generation of Chinese migrants who are using the proceeds of their nation's emerging free market economy to buy businesses across Australia. From Factories to Franchises

There are many examples. The results of this created phenomenon would be worth recording.  But there is no Federal collation of success or failure rates in franchising. The industry relies on anecdotal evidence. The Victorian government has released their figures on known immigrant entry into small business for 2007/8. But there is no way to identify what part is associated with franchising.

Asian immigrants particularly and typically do not complain when they find themselves in a business that does not live up to expectations.  They simply work harder and longer to sell and buy again.
