Baskin Robbins Rumblings from Down Under
An Australian blogsite written by Baskin Robbins ex-franchisees notes a list of Australian franchise systems from today’s Sydney Morning Herald that have collapsed.
Placed into administration late last week, the Queensland-based kitchen and laundry franchise Kleenmaid joins three franchisors - Kleins, EzyDVD and Midas - which have failed in the past 10 months. The tough economic conditions serve as a valuable reminder that franchising is not immune to economic downtowns, nor is it a guarantee of business success. – SMH.au
The ex-franchisee site thinks that Baskin Robbins may soon join the insolvent crowd.
Baskin Robbins Australia has been close to collapse twice in the last five years.
It also notes that Baskin Robbins is importing of franchisee/immigrants from South Korea.
Poorly trained franchisees? Aggressive expansion plans? Smells like Allied Brands, too. In fact they’ve been so aggressive they’ve been advertising franchises for sale in South Korea, and arranging migration for these poor souls.
If the ice cream chain has to import franchisees, that doesn't say much for the profitability of the franchise!
