Blue MauMau Upgraded

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (Blue MauMau) - While you slept, we upgraded Blue MauMau.

Over three years ago I had a vision of a new way of publishing. I realized the limitations that trade journals had in getting out frank franchise investment news. I also recognized that traditional print was not enough now that the Internet, with its interactivity and multi-media nature, was available to almost everyone. Internet wizards helped me understand how emerging Internet publishing technology could get around the franchise industry's information guardians.

My business plan was from the outset a step-by-step blend of online media and community platform—social media. Insiders and those in the front lines could provide the real scoop on franchise systems and trends—stuff that you just don't read about in typical press releases. Although it had been in existence for 10 years, blogging was a new phenomenon in our industry and many mistakenly thought of Blue MauMau as simply a blog. Others thought it was a bulletin board. Blogs and forums were part of our new media model, but there was much more to it.

The Blue MauMau site combines world-class journalism with expansive social networking tools for members to contribute their own insights, blogs, podcasts, franchise encyclopedia entries, outside web links, new franchise systems, classified ads and more. Members can even post current event news to the front page, with the editor's collaboration.

Member content is prominently featured alongside reporter contributions. Members are encouraged to get to know one another and our experts based on areas of shared interest.

This is the future of trade journalism: an interactive, collaborative effort of community and news content. I understand the Blue MauMau model is way out of the box for the franchise industry, but I believe that franchise investors are finding it a valuable tool. Networking with those who are knowledgable and knowing the real scoop are critical aspects of investing in and running a small business.

Collaborate

Anyone can join BlueMauMau.org. Membership is free! Your registration information will remain strictly confidential. It will not be sold or given out to anyone.

The foundation of this site is still not quite finished. Our budget is tight and our site technology is exceptionally difficult, so the site can only be built bit by bit. But there is one fundamental building block that is coming soon. Stay tuned.

Just for clarification

is the newest post on a thread always now on the first page, or does it branch out from whatever post it was replying to? It is just a bit more difficult to determine the continuity of the thread, since the messages are not necessarily in reference to each other.

It seems

like it comes from any page.

Good work, Don!

Nice new look, Don!

Kudos...

The new design is great....

Double Kudos and my 71' Plymouth Duster

Don, The upgrade looks awesome. Congrats!
The GREEN really reminds me of my first automobile:
A 1971 Plymouth Duster, Twister.
Green. Fast. Fun.

Curious

Is there some way you can re-do some of the formating? Some of the threads with high post counts are very difficult to read with their very narrow margins.

Thanks

We are working on it this evening. In the wee hours of Thursday morning, you will see all of the site's new bells and whistles.

More coming in the next few hours.

Blue Mau Mau new look is Awesome!

Thanks, Don! Blue Mau Mau just keeps getting better every day. I understand that it is being read by more and more people in this country and throughout the world.

Is this true? Will you have a slow season? In Recessions, doesn't franchising pick up because so many people are looking for jobs that aren't available anywhere else in the marketplace.

I saw where FuwsFuwaFuwagi indicated that businesses started one year into a rescession had a better chance? or something like that. Can't find this comment now on Blue Mau Mau.

Plymouth Duster...

Slant 6 198 or 225, or 318, 340 V8?

Just imagine one model coming with 4 different motors...If it was a slant 6 225 it could still be running today...Ah, the good old days....

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water...

Don -

Nice job on the new look and layout.

One issue - I just got into a navigation grove with the old BMM and then you go and do this.

Thanks

Joel,

My first car was a lime green Ford Pinto. Those were the autos that blew up if rear-ended just right. Bought it for $500, which was all the money I had in the world back then.

Exhausting the discourse

And you can tell when a topic is beaten to death since the "Comment" box can't even fit more than one word on each line.

Although that doesn't seem to dissuade folks from trying ;)
