Burker King Zees Comment on Chief Marketing Officer's Leave of Absence
See a pretty well written article in Advertising Age about Burger King's CMOs leave of absence and general turmoil afoot. Operators are up in arms about sliding sales, alienation of women, seniors and minorities, and ad focus.
Noted sales had fallen off a cliff by June, and dollar double cheeseburger plans had been voted down twice.
Burger King and ad agency Crispin had a week long review in June.
One franchisee said they had been impacted by the marketing faux-pas, and others said BK nneded a change in direction.
FYI, BK is working the double cheeseburger promotion in some markets, per their August 25 2009 earnings call.
