Bush Bails Out Big Three

20,000 car dealers give a small sigh of relief as President Bush announces a $17.4 billion loan to American auto manufacturers in exchange for concessions from car makers and their workers.

WASHINGTON (Blue MauMau) - The Chairman of the National Automobile Dealers Association, Annette Sykora, said President Bush’s announcement to provide short-term loans to the auto industry provides automakers with “the shot in the arm we need to lead the economic recovery.”

In a written statement issued by NADA, Sykora declares, “When you have the government declaring its confidence and commitment to U.S. auto manufacturers, it helps reassure the American public that domestic automakers will be around for the long term. This sends a clear message: Consumers can now consider any car from any manufacturer with confidence.”
