Business Owners Confess to Checking E-mail in Bathroom
A phone survey of small businesses (less than 20 employees) by Staples highlights the ongoing time crunch that business owners face. One in five small-business owners work 80 hours or more per week.
Do small business operators have a life, and how do they cope? According to the study, life outside of work tends to revolve around work. 21 percent said they work while eating dinner at least four to five times a week. Since business owners work long work weeks, they typically become quite adept at multi-tasking, such as reading their e-mails in the bathroom. Do they use their laptop for that? Speaking of which, this writer has personally seen businessmen in restrooms running their business on their phones while doing their business. Not sure if their cell phones were able to filter out unwanted "background" noises.
