Caller Cons Quiznos Manager To Give Customer Credit Card Numbers

A Quiznos manager in Albuquerque, New Mexico was conned over the phone to give out the credit card information of 15 customers that had used their credit card at the store that day. Thousands of dollars for items bought in New Jersey were owed by the dumbfounded sandwich customers.

Police say a woman called the manager saying she was with the bank and was having problems receiving credit card transactions from the restaurant.

"She sounded legitimate. There was no reason for the Quiznos employee to think that there was anything that was suspicious," said Nadine Hamby of the Albuquerque Police Department. [KOB.com]

The owner of the shop says that each of the 15 cards had roughly $5,000 spent in New Jersey for a total of $60,000.

The Quiznos owner says he's told his employees and managers not to give out credit card information over the phone without verifying the caller's information.

Any Quiznos owners want to tell us what the Operation Manual says about employees giving customer and credit card information out?

Quiznos Credit Card Solicitation

...and then people ask why PCI compliance is such a hot button!!!???

Re: Quiznos Credit Card Solicitation

I don't know what the Q OPS Manual says about that ....... but common sense prevails in these instances.
Most Q owners cannot afford to hire a store manager, and most owners have had to get a real job outside the store, in order to "support" their stores.
