CFA Backs California’s Good Faith in Franchising State Bill 610

On behalf of more than 33,000 franchisees owning more than 81,000 businesses and employing 1.4 million individuals, the Coalition of Franchisee Associations (CFA) expresses its support for SB 610, relating to franchisees' rights to good faith by their franchisors.

By way of background, CFA - exclusively comprised of franchisee associations and franchisee members - brings together some of the largest and most reputable independent franchisee associations with a mission "to leverage the collective strengths of franchisee associations for the benefit of the franchisee community." The CFA represents 19 franchisee associations whose members own brands including Subway, BURGER KING, 7-Eleven, the Asian American Hotel Owners Association, Buffalo Wild Wings, Dunkin' Donuts, Meineke, the Service Station Franchisee Association, Domino's, Little Caesars and Supercuts, among others.

As an organization with supports a franchisee's right to freedom of association as well as the standards of good faith and fair dealing in franchise agreements, CFA believes SB 610 is a step in the right direction. This legislation paves the way in giving local small business owners the opportunity to sign more balanced agreements and placing them on a more equal footing with their franchisors.

On behalf of small business owners throughout the state of California, the CFA respectfully requests your support of SB 610.

Sincerely,

Keith R. Miller                                                            Misty Chally
