Chef Claims to Discover KFC Secret Recipe
In years long struggle to uncover the eleven herbs and spices of Colonel Sanders’ recipe, Ron Douglas says he’s unraveled KFC’s highly guarded secret. And he’s just published the recipe in his book, "America's Most Wanted Recipes". The New York Post reports:
[Douglas] decided to start a Web site devoted to copycat recipes. He relied on his discriminating taste buds and a growing community of amateur foodies. It was such a hit that he ditched his job as a finance manager at JP Morgan in 2007 to manage the Web site full-time. He also began hiring part-time chefs to work out dozens of replicate recipes from popular restaurant chains.
So how does it taste?
A Post reporter who tasted his recipe described Douglas' fried chicken as "the best KFC I ever had" and said the crispy skin was an exact match with the fast-food joint.
In case your not a KFC fan, here’s a Church’s Fried Chicken reverse-engineered recipe. There are not a lot of herbs and spices there. There’s a lot more secret recipes on his blog, recipesecrets.net. On his site, Douglas declares, “While other sites depend on the results of one person for developing clone recipes or simply copy their recipes from us, we have a community of over 65,000 members who test recipes and add intelligence to our products.”
