Chefs are giving diners access to their kitchens through Twitter, tweeting about that evening's specials (sometimes with photos), talking shop or fielding questions.
Customers for their part can be real-time food critics, tweeting about their meal while at a restaurant, providing photos from their smartphones.
Celebrity chefs like Gordon Ramsay of Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in London and Bobby Flay of New York's Mesa Grill have Twitter followers of nearly half a million. Other chefs tweet for an inner circle of local fans, or friends of friends.
