Cold Stone Franchisee Groups Urged Not to Respond to Media
The ocular owl has spotted an urgent message to Cold Stone Creamery franchisees warning not to respond to requests from CNBC or other media for interviews regarding last month’s "Behind the Counter: Untold Story of Franchising.” Last week’s email states, “We need to take care of this first step of protecting our investments from a further tarnished reputation,” referring to CNBC’s hour-long expose.
The email reads:
NIACCF, National Independent Association of Cold Stone Creamery Franchisees and the Cold Stone Creamery National Advisory Board
To the Cold Stone Creamery Franchisee Community:
As a Cold Stone Creamery franchisee, this letter comes to you on behalf of the NIACCF and NAB.
As discussions are ongoing with CNBC on the matter of the "Behind the Counter" documentary, you may be contacted by CNBC for an interview. If you are contacted by CNBC or any other news media, or if you already have been contacted, we urge you to immediately notify either the Michael Goldman of the National Advisory Board (deleted) or the Rudy Puig of the NIACCF (deleted) before engaging in any further conversations or interviews with any member of that news media. Our first and foremost priority as a franchise community must be to protect the reputation of our business' name and asset value. We can only do this with a unified and coordinated presentation that furthers our common interests of long-term viability of our stores.
We need to take care of this first step of protecting our investments from a further tarnished reputation. As with any franchisor/franchisee relationship, there are inequities that need to be addressed through ongoing dialogue. The NIACCF intends to engage in that conversation with Kahala on behalf of its members and the franchise community. If you haven't already done so, please visit the association website, www.niaccf.com, to learn more.
Sincerely,
NAB
