How To Avoid Being Treated As a Spammer

Blue Maumau has active spam filters - both in the form of an impersonal robot and human (well, ok, technically, a fish).

Q: My post doesn't appear. Now what?

Should your posting not appear immediately on the site, please email Mr. Blue MauMau (editor@bluemaumau.org) to let him know that you are a real human being. If you do not contact him, he will review the post to determine if it is meant to disrupt the site's discussions, advertise or if it is even human generated.

Q: How come my posting is considered a spam?

A spam by its nature is a disruptive posting on sites. Academics argue about what constitutes spam but Mr. Blue MauMau knows it when he sees it. Our robot is not always quite so spot on.

Some postings on this site are using a format that our mean, automated, impersonal filters have been programmed through time to catch as spam. For example, watch the "ch**n*ng" word. By itself it is an important franchise concept, but because of past abuse, our filters now keep an eye out for it.

You'll know when you've activated our robot filter because your post will not immediately post.

Don't pretend to be other guests. Postings in which guests try to mock being other guests will be removed.

Nonsensical strings are another. Short postings that do not relate to a blog or a thread are flagged as strong spam suspects. A posting that is completely unrelated to the thread is a good identifier of spam. For example, if an article and discussion thread is on arbitration, a post of "Isn't the Barbie and Ken doll just the coolest thing in franchising?" is a hint that spamming is at work.

I will review such posts and decide whether they are real postings or not in due time. While we value all opinions at Blue MauMau, we are nonetheless very vigilent on spam and malicious software. We have learned by sad experience that not everyone wants this site to thrive.
