A franchise ‘consultant’ works on a ‘fee for service’ basis, and when interacting with a prospective buyer or a franchisor (prospective or existing), they are paid a ‘consulting fee’ for their services as opposed to a commission based on an outcome such as a ‘franchise sale’. When working with a prospective franchise buyer, the ‘consultant’ is paid a consulting fee and works solely in the client’s best interests. The purchase or failure to purchase a franchise does not impact upon the ‘consulting fee’ paid to the consultant for assisting in the decision making process.
