Domino’s Scraps Ads, No Dough for Jersey Shore
What could be a better fit than a premier show about Jersey Italians, half clad babes and a pizza company. Plenty says Dominos.
Domino's rep Tim McIntyre said the company didn't buy an ad on the show specifically, but its third-party media buyer, after reviewing the show, told MTV Friday morning that "the content wasn't right for Domino's." "The request to keep our spots from future episodes took place in the morning, well before we received any complaints or inquiries from anyone," McIntyre said. "We have no issue with MTV, and we haven't pulled our advertising from the network. We just don't want to be on that particular show." – BrandWeek
If you are wondering what’s all the stink that would make Domino’s shy away from a few “guidos” having fun on MTV, then you’ll want to see this from CBS news.
One group who is up in arms over Jersey Shore is the National Italian American Foundation. Robert Allegrini, chairman of the foundation’s image enhancement committee, wrote (pdf) to the CEO of MTV’s head company, Viacom, saying, “A show such as this one is a giant leap backwards for our society and damages the image and sensibilities of Italian Americans.”
