Dr Doom Speaks on End 2009 Economy

Today, the anniversary of the fall of Lehman Brothers investment bank and the marking of the crash of the economy, New York University professor Nouriel Roubini, who was one of the few economist that accurately predicted the crash, speaks to CNBC's Maria Bartiromo of The Wall Street Report about a long "U" shaped recovery.

Roubini is also known as "Dr. Doom." But this time he has some good news. He estimates that the U.S. is emerging now or in the next quarter from the worst recession since the Great Depression. "We are close to the end of the recession," he states.

Dr. Doom says that now the danger is that the goverment could stop the growing economy by "cutting spending or raising taxes too soon", or not managing inflation properly at a later date. That could cause us to go into a double dip recession. He predicts that the U.S. consumer will be sluggish in spending for at least two or three years.
