Franchise 50 a bunch of crap

I am a franchisor and I find this specious and surreptitious Franchise 50 report repugnant. Mr. Stites service is a service for fee. A franchisor is not reviewed unless they subscribe to Franchise Business Review. The Franchise 50 is unreliable and prospective franchisees should not think that this is actual due diligence.

Franchisors that use the service use it as a marketing tool and this fact does not make all of these franchisor's concepts unworthy of prospects consideration. Prospects should discount Franchise Business Review's analysis and listing as no better as the "Best Steakhouse" list in those free airline magazines you find on Delta, American, USAir, Southwest, etc...

Eric clean up your act and explain clearly to franchisors and prospective franchisees what your business is in a transparent manner.

Additionally Eric, you likely thought that posting on blogs was an effective way to promote your web portals? Well it is, but it is also a two-way street where you will be called to answer for your products. I do wish you well!

Franchise 50 a bunch of crap

I totally agree with you - isn't it interesting that every company profiled by Franchise 50 earns a 4 star rating - even if only 32% of the franchisees participated in the survey. How can the statistics they publish be justified?!!!

HAHAHAHA!! SAME OLD SHYTE IS DONE WITH LAWYERS

Beginning many years ago, and somewhat continuing to this day, I started receiving blurbs that someone was going to publish a directory of the best lawyers in America/world's most distinguished lawyers/other similar malarkey.

The blurbs always said that I "had been nominated for inclusion" (can you even imagine that?), and then launched into a sales pitch that - to make a long story short - if I purchased the thing, I would be included (and that I could also enhance the encomia by "upgrading" my listing).

That's how all those most distinguished/ best lawyer directories got going and how they grow now. They still send you a blurb that their Journal of the Best ...... is about to be published and don't you want to have your advert in it.

The so-called most respected lawyer directory M-H does a version of the same thing. If you want an av rating (their best until recently) that would permit you to advert in the back of the book where the real lawyers adverted, you had to be vouched for by other lawyers. That meant/means that you buy a few drinks and hand people letters text notes for them to send in praising you. In about a few weeks, you get back a congratulatory note that you are indeed praiseworthy and are being awarded their imprimatur. I'm sure that the Best Lawyers On God's Earth folks took their cue from M-H.

Franchise 50 a bunch of crap

I can't make heads or tails about any sense of this site. I was interested in a company that had a survey done by Franchise Business Review - number #1 - only 19% of the franchisees participated in the survey - so what does this information tell me - absolutely nothing!!

Second - I pulled up another company that stated 58% of the franchisees participated in the survey - but according to the stats on the site the participation rate was only 39% - how do you come up with your numbers? -- I suggest you go back to grade school and learn how to do math!

Exactly what are you trying to sell?

Franchise 50 a bunch of crap

One more thought - for the companies that participate in this 4 star rating - how can you morally sell a terristory to a prospective franchisee based on this 4 star rating that makes no sense. You have people who are ready, willing, and able to invest their life savings to start a business of their own - do you really care about your franchisees and whether they can make it - or are you just impressed that you get 4 stars?!!!

Gee, Richard

You mean I can't trust Martin Hubbell anymore, who can we trust?

Eric Stites and Jack Burris tell us why you aren't full of crap

We know you read Blue Maumau. Tell us about the veracity of Franchise Business Review and the Franchise 50. You should have no problem answering questions since you've built a business surveying satisfaction of franchisees.

The shoe is on the other foot! I don't think you have the gumption to post a response. Amen and God Bless if you do!

I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT...

I only trust Belinda and Jesus.

Can they give a qualified answer? I think not!

Eric did a great job of taking a process of surveying franchisees and spinning it to work for the benefit of any franchise company that comes his way. As said before - ALL companies get a 4-star rating. Not to say all of the companies are over rated, beacuse there are some well qualified, well bred franchise companies on his site.
Franchise 50, more importantly, gives the public the idea that franchise systems can be rated into a top 50? Though the survey process may point out traits of good franchisors compared to poor franchisors, in no way can you rate food industry franchises vs. home based franchises vs. maintenance franchises and group them all in one category calling one #1 and one #50.
Any answer they can give would be much appreciated - though I don't know if I would believe a word of it!

entrepenuer magazine

UPS STORE rated #5 and is not in the top 50. Shows the validity of this magazine. UPS STORE franchise at all time low with 500 plus litigations, multiple other class action lawsuits on going and in the making. This franchise satisfaction rated at the bottom. PU for brown!

If you're talking validity - have you done the math on the Top 50 done by Franchise Business Review?
