Franchising and music appreciation
My music collection has been rejuvenated. Not by purchases of new music but by my new perspective.
Just as in my teenage years when it felt that songs had been written expressly with my then dating sagas in mind, my listening pleasure has now been enhanced by bad franchising.
Now when I listen to Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" I amuse myself with the thought that it could have been written about franchising relationships. " I fell for you like a child," he sings. "Oh but the fire went wild."
Indeed now I have a "playlist" entitled "bad franchising". I play songs from it whenever my predicament gets too much too handle, which is most days now.
I've even rewritten a few lyrics which I like to sing along with. My neighbours have been getting quite an education in franchising from my singing my own lyrics at the top of my voice.
Why am I bothering to tell readers about this?
-because it is crucial to maintain a sense of humour. If you have been burnt by franchising you have probably lost a good portion of your humour and possibly also started to lose enjoyment of life.
You need to start finding the funny side, finding black comedy in your situation or the bitterness and anger you feel will eat you alive.
So go back to your music collection and listen to some old favourites with a new ear.
I guarantee you will find songs that mean something different now to what they meant pre franchising.
Maybe like me you will find some songs for your 'franchising soundtrack' that will help put you back in touch with the world or back on speaking terms with your sense of humour.
If you find a song that really makes you laugh when listened to in the context of franchising maybe you can share it as a comment here. God knows many of us need a good laugh.
