Herald Tribune Features Blue MauMau
Blue MauMau’s franchise horror stories are featured in today’s Herald-Tribune of Sarasota, Florida.
“For a bad case of entrepreneurial angst, go online to the Blue Mau Mau blog at bluemaumau.org. The negative entries expose many blemishes of the franzchising [sic] world. It makes you wonder if owning a franchise is riskier than advertised.
One day last week, the first three posts on the blog were about the ongoing lawsuits against Quiznos by its franchisees, the collapse of Kleenmaid [Australia] and the trial by UPS Store owners against their franchisor.
Notably the articles and venting by franchisees are one-sided. But it illustrates what can happen if you pick the wrong franchise, fail to investigate it thoroughly and do not understand the potential consequences of signing the legal documents.” - Sarasota's Herald-Tribune
Blue MauMau's weekend edition featured such news stories as Papa John’s new COO, Gold’s Gym CEO working closely with its independent franchisee association, IHOP showing menu flexibility with a franchisee by serving Vermont maple syrup, Ford’s $1 franchise deal for minorities, and how McDonald’s coffee is beating Starbucks in a taste test. It also featured two lawsuits, one where the franchisor is suing its franchisees' advertising trust fund and a class action lawsuit against Quiznos that its franchisees lost.
Bad news travels fast.
The article says that if you want to know more information about franchising, go to such web sites as the international franchise association, an association primarily for franchisors and their vendors, or the FTC.
Of course, if you want to know more about franchises, then go to Blue MauMau.
