How Bad Can Working at Blockbuster Be?

Aaron Siebers stabbed himself repeatedly to skip work at Blockbuster Video, according to Denver police. Apparently, employment at the franchise chain, which is seeing terrible sales, is such a downer nowadays that Sieber wanted to avoid it at just about any cost, no matter how many might be desperately seeking his job. One can only take so many video renters in a day.

A 29-year-old man who claimed he was attacked and stabbed by three people - skinheads or Hispanic males - confessed Monday night that he stabbed himself because he didn't want to go to work, Edgewater Police said today. - Denver Post

Siebers told police that he had been attacked on the way to work near a Target department store. Denver's Finest scanned Target's considerable array of outside surveillence cameras to catch a glimpse of the attackers. The Target store video showed no attack, while showing Siebers walking from his bus stop to the video store without any injury.

What's the moral of the story?

"If you are going to concoct a story about being stabbed, don't do it near a Target store," said Davis [a police department spokesman].
