Cartridge World
Mr Yarkin may be the most dishonest person I have met.
I bought a Cartridge World Franchise as did hundreds of others
over a dozen have now closed, Not Sold, Closed!
Franchisees Lost hundreds of thousands of Dollars.
How did this happen?
CW had great Lawyers write there contracts.
CW verbally... Not in writing misrepresented There Knowledge, Skills and abilities.
Processes were incorrect, no they were just Wrong!
Tools and equipment.... Part of the opening Kit, however due to trade secrets, they would not disclose what the tools were... Trust us they said.
So hundreds of Franchisees did, and example: a common tool to empty a ink cartridge is a Centrifuge they cost about $1200.00 our trainer
Ben Stokes the founders son, when asked how we empty a ink cartridge grabbed a plastic Walmart bag and put the cartridge in it and said this is a centrifuge, then the bag leaked and sure enough the ink came out of the cartridge and went all over the walls ceiling floor and us.
this is one example of hundreds.
were they misleading? yes, and then some,
dishonest? yes, and then some,
did they out right lie? I believe they did.
a normal person would not do this to another person.
Signed a disappointed Franchisee.
I am not alone... hundreds of others feel the same way,
if we disclose who we are the Ink Mafia well need I say more...
Inkjet Refilling Franchises
This industry face constant competition from two sources; companies like HP which manufacture the printers, and companies like Office Depot.
HP doesn't look upon the refillers industry in a kindly manner.
Office Depot can open up a counter to accept refilling.
But you want to pay $150k to meet these two giants? You are out of mind.
No networking effects, massive entrenched competition, and if you succeed, no barriers to your marketplace.
Brilliant scheme.

Cartridge refill Q
This is one of those areas where, as Webster points out, the office supply chains like Staples (or even places like Kiknos) can just add a sideline at negligible cost.
In addition to the IP issues which HP has litigated, there is a quality issue. Back in the inkjet days, I stopped using refills after one leaked and ruined my printer.
Now with laser printers, I would assume that the refill places are shipping the cartridges somewhere to get refilled, but this would seem to negate the "instant" aspect which makes the refill concept attractive in the first place.
Just wondering--- is there still a big market for inkjet, and how do the refill franchises deal with laser cartridges?
ink/laser cartridge refills
I workd at Cartridge World - we fill ink and laser cartridges in house. No sending out to anyone else(at our local store anyway). We disassemble toner cartridges, inspect parts and replace if necessary, then reassemble and package. These can be remanufactured several times over at a significantly lower cost to businesses and huge markup. Staples no longer offers toner compatibles and sends customers to us when they don't want to buy the expensive OEM cartridges. The local Walgreens decided NOT to put a refill station in their store when they heard Cartridge World was coming to town. In the 12 months we've been open, we're serving large and small businesses, schools & hospitals. One of the most frequently heard comments (besides cost savings) have to do with delivery and customer service that you don't get many places these days. We've added printer cleaning and repair service because so many people don't know a thing about printer maintenance. We just hit $25,000 and growing. Will it live up to the investment of the franchise? Who knows - and that goes for any new business.
got free refills
my local Walgreens just ran a "fill your ink jet cartridge for free" day. i got two filled for nothing and they worked great. the day to day price is $10.00 for b/w and $12.00 for color. not too sure i would want to compete with a company who probably uses this service as a loss leader. it works, i have been back with two additional cartridges for refill and bought some others things i needed while in the store
Free Refills Too
I got free refills at Walgreens too. What a great deal. I'll wait all day for those offers to come around instead of paying. Despite this, Cartridge World seems to do just fine in recruiting franchisees.
