Bob Woodward on Investigative Journalism

Below is a short video (5 min) from Bob Woodward on investigative journalism. Now the associate editor for the Washington Post, Woodward helped break the Watergate story surrounding President Nixon, along with Carl Bernstein. This is a good guide for the Blue MauMau's citizen journalists as well as a reminder to our own investigative journalists. Woodward explains three tracks that journalists get their information.

  1. People: He advises journalists to not use one single individual to cover the news. Use many from various perspectives.
  2. Documents: Obtain corroborating documents. On Blue MauMau, we like to attach and publish those documents to accompany stories for readers to see. Registered members can attach documents.
  3. See it for yourself: People and documents can be wrong. Seeing it can show when sources are just plain wrong.
