McDonald’s Fake Memo

A fake McDonald’s Australia memo suggests franchisees raise net income by having their drive-thru staff rip off customers.

On smaller orders if they leave out the hot apple pie or fires [sic] and larger orders just 1 burger from every third order this totals around $2,118.00 per day. - AFN

McDonald's is naturally more than a little upset. The memo was sent out by the supposed managing director, Robert Trugabe, a seeming play on the name of the Zimbabwean dictator Robert Mugabe.

Some years ago another fake memo circulated through Australia, where an extremely brutal franchisor, now an ex-franchisor, apologised to franchisees for stealing advertising fund money.  A franchisee was tracked down as the originator of the hoax and bankrupted into the next world.

Some people are dangerously stupid.
