McDonalds and Yum Spend $720,000 Lobbying Federal Government
Two Giant Franchisors Lobby on Minimum Wage, Immigration, Food Safety and Other Issues. Spend $720k Collectively in First Half of 2007.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Blue MauMau) - Yum Brands Inc., which includes such franchise chains as KFC, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut, spent more than $550,000 in the first half of 2007 to lobby the federal government.
McDonald's spent $170,000 lobbying various federal agencies and congress.
A 1995 federal law requires lobbyists to disclose activities that could influence members of the executive and legislative branches of the federal government. Both firms lobbied on nutrition, minimum wage, immigration and other issues.
