McDonald's France Airs Gay-Friendly Ad
McDonald’s France has released a television commercial that welcomes gay youth to their restaurants. The ad below, entitled "Come as you are", is airing only for the French market.
Huffington Post’s Nicholas Graham asks:
It's commendable of McDonald's to display their inclusiveness, but, it’s unclear why they felt the need to air such an ad at all. Were French gay people previously feeling unwelcome in McDonald’s?
Answer: McDonald's France and their local ad agency obviously want to better connect the dots. An eatery that primarily serves a slab of meat between two buns is a natural place to mingle for this yet to be "tapped" market segment. The rest of us just wouldn't have made this association before. Now we get it, thanks to the efforts of brilliant corporate marketing minds at work.
