Most Promising Franchise Categories Pulled Out of Hat

Entrepreneur magazine has done it again. This time it has picked the most promising franchise categories for 2009 with little rhyme or reason. And frozen yogurt is listed among their picks. The reason is because it has a company like Cefiore, which announced plans to sell 50 frozen yogurt franchises. L.A.-based Pinkberry is hot too. How hot, you ask? Don't know. There is also no mention of Pinkberry struggling with copycats as it serves six lawsuits to stop them.

The magazine also prognosticates that Senior Care and Pet Care are going to boom in 2009. Predicting more old people and pets seems safe enough.

"... owners tend to scrimp on pet toys and products, but they still shell out the dough to ensure that their pets stay healthy and happy."

Meanwhile, CNN has a lead story today saying the opposite is happening in the U.K., "Pet dogs abandoned as recession bites."

"Other dog shelters and re-homing centers across the country are also at bursting point as a result of an increase in requests for re-homing and a decrease in people wanting to take on the responsibility of looking after a dog."
