NexCen Co-Brands MaggieMoo's And Pretzelmaker
NexCen Brands has announced today the opening of a franchise in Mississippi that combines Maggie Moo's and Pretzelmaker, brands purchased within the last year. Those purchases had NexCen flirt with going belly-up these past few months. The fun about a franchisor such as NexCen buying The Athlete's Foot, Bill Blass, Great American Cookies, MaggieMoo's, Marble Slab Creamery, Pretzelmaker, Pretzel Time, Shoebox New York and Waverly is that the conglomerate can mix and match brands to provide more choices to consumers.
It's about driving synergy - attracting different consumers in growing segments. Cold Stone, Ben & Jerry's, and other ice creameries have been complaining about an ice cream supply glut, but what do they know?
It is about minimizing overhead with a single back kitchen and minimal new equipment expenditures. Ovens and freezers. A bakery and ice cream. Magic synergy.
From NexCen's press release, here is the where of the synergy to interest small business investors.
"The opening of a MaggieMoo's and Pretzelmaker co-brand store is a perfect example of the synergies available in our portfolio," stated Chris Dull, president of NexCen Franchise Management. "The co-brand concepts give our franchisees the opportunity to diversify their business without the cost of maintaining multiple sites."
And if that isn't a compelling business case, here is the buyer of the new store in Mississippi explaining why he bought the double treat.
"We're very excited to bring MaggieMoo's and Pretzelmaker together at the Renaissance." said Brandon Falcon, co-owner of the new Treatery. "These brands can stand on their own, but together they add value to our business and convenience to our customers."
Synergy. See? It's as clear as Mississippi Mud Pie Ice Cream. The sum of the two are greater than the individual parts like the combination of running shoes and a German chocolate macedamia nut cookie under the same roof. It's about giving consumers greater convenience.
