NY Times Interviews Blue MauMau Members

Keith Girard, reporter for AllBusiness.com interviewed two active members of Blue MauMau in today's New York Times, "Franchising Still Fraught With Pitfall Despite New FTC Rule".

Nick Bibby is quoted...

But it's still largely a "buyer beware" business, despite the involvement of government regulators, trade associations, more than 1,600 franchise attorneys, and thousands of franchise "consultants."

"It's incumbent upon the buyer to know what they're getting into, yet very few people understand what's happening and tons of lives have been ruined through bad investments," says Nick Bibby, who heads The Bibby Group.

And then comes Don Sniegowski.

"When the system is built in such a way that the broker gets the money from the franchisor, you can't predict what's going to happen," says Dan Sniegowski, who launched the Web site Bluemaumau.org two years ago so franchisees could network and keep up with the latest industry developments.

We think the quote should be, "CAN predict what's going to happen." In other words, "brokers will sell where they can make commissions and some brokers will match franchises to prospects where they can make larger commissions", says Don (not Dan).

Uh, not that we want to look a gift horse in the mouth. And not that we do not make our fair share of typographical errors here.
