New Technology: Testing Picasa's Slide Show
Photo blogs, pblogs, can be easily created on Blue MauMau. See? What I do not like about embedding Google's Picasa slideshow is that the slideshow is animated. Its movement is distracting, making this site too busy. I wish Picasa had a way to prevent the animated sliding. If the Picasa server has problems, these slides will not show up. One more problem. The viewer must have Macromedia's flashplayer add-on installed on their Internet Browser or else a big fat empty space will appear instead of a slide show.

Speaking of pblogs and blogs, members should try blogging. It's fun. And the mechanism of a blog entry on Blue MauMau can be used to submit so many types of things - news stories, encyclopedia entries, advice columns and musings about franchise life. The end product depends on how the entry is written, formatted and where they are put. Although the front page is reserved for franchise news articles, the back pages at the moment have a mix of press releases, advice columns and franchisee personal journals. As the community and its publishing volume increases, different types of columns will be separated out more.

I encourage a franchisee to document their life - to blog frivolously about non-news related topics. Writing helps to relieve stress and can provide clarity to thinking. Our readers want to read such things. After all, a FatBurger franchisee wannabee would want an idea of what day-to-day life might look like for the next twenty years. A franchise owner may be inspired to better performance or to get a life.

My Photo Equipment. So let me try to set a good example by posting a personal blog. What does a franchise publisher do for fun on the weekend? Well, besides continuing to blog, I photograph interesting franchise buildings, signs and things, what else? (See slide show.) I have a digital Nikon D80 with various lenses, a miniature, super-slim Sharp pocket camera, and a tiny cell phone capable of taking photos. I am usually never empty-handed in photographing images that pass by.

How To Post a Slide Show. If members want to post a photo slideshow on your blog, both Flickr and Google's Picassa allow embedding of slide shows, just like I've done here. Click on disable rich-text in your blog, and then paste the embedded slide show code. You now have a slide-show.
