Pinkberry Founder Arrested for Beating Bum

Young Lee, co-founder of franchising chain Pinkberry Frozen Yogurt, was arrested after getting off a plane for beating a homeless man with a tire iron last June. The LA Times reports that a sexually-explicit tattoo on the man may have set the franchisor leader off.

According to a 2006 profile of Pinkberry by the Los Angeles Times, Lee, a native of Korea, was a former kick boxer and bouncer… Lee is scheduled to be arraigned on Feb. 6. He was previously convicted of felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor carrying a loaded firearm in 2001, and now faces up to seven years in state prison if convicted of assault. – ABC News

If an unknown homeless man can set Lee off so easily, just imagine how angry he might get at a franchisee who is late on paying royalties. Advice to franchisees: Tread lightly, wild franchisor on the prowl. Another piece of advice: Get a second opinion on what your Chinese tattoo really says.
