Quiznos Back Selling in New Jersey

December 7 has another reason to live in infamy.Tonight at the Sheraton Meadowlands (NJ) hotel, Quiznos held the first of 2 "Ownership Seminars" just a few miles from the office of franchisee attorney Justin Klein.

Back in the day, Quiznos was a hot concept in northern New Jersey. But the franchisor's dubious sales practices, coupled with a rash of franchisee failures, led to negative media coverage. Justin Klein sued on behalf of franchisees, and groups of franchisees picketed hotels where Quiznos was holding sales pitches.

The New Jersey pickets were streamed on Richard Sauls' website, "QuiznosSucks.com," in the first instance of franchisees using the Internet to organize in opposition to their franchisor. One classic scene showed prospects looking out the hotel windows as franchisees marched and chanted on the street below.

But maybe this time will be different.

For those hardy souls who believe that Quiznos makes possible — in the words of their advertisement — "the American Dream," the franchisor will be holding another seminar on Dec 9 at 7 pm.
