Ronald McDonald, a Nazi in Thailand

Heil Hamburger? Thailand's new fashion craze is outraging tourists.

Teenagers in Thailand have started wearing T-shirts depicting the Ronald McDonald mascot as a Nazi. Although the trend is not limited to McDonald's, the familiarity of the food icon has led to shocked tourists complaining, along with the Israeli ambassador.

Criticizing the royal family leads to 20 years in prison, but taking a trademarked mascot and linking it to one of the most notorious genocidal murderers in history is considered funny. The Thais admire Hitler and even staged parades in his honor, with no apparent explanation.
