Single Mother Risks All, Now Top Petland Franchisee

PuppyHere’s an interesting story that I ran across from the Petland corporate site. Franchisee Cindy Parks took honors for Petland’s 2006 Store of the Year. She tells how, as a single mother, she took her 401K and her children’s educational funds to invest in what she believed would be a better future for her and her children, but at the same time, risking everything. Her store in Charlotte, NC, broke the company record by exceeding $2 million in sales, with other franchisees since following in her footsteps. At the time of this story, her store was on track to do $2.7 million in its second full year of operation.

Cindy talks about her struggles in her first Petland store in Orlando, which she sold to move closer to family, and tells how she’s learned from that experience and what she’s now doing differently. The risk she took in the beginning has paid off, and she gets up each morning looking forward to enjoying her day while at the same time making a living.
