South Aus Proceeds with Franchise Laws

The South Australian State Government intends to introduce a Small Business Commission with jurisdiction over franchising matters. The introduction of a Commissioner appears to be based upon a Bill proposed by Tony Piccolo MP to introduce a set of State based franchise relationship laws, adopting the Federal Franchising Code as a State law.

Such a move has previously attracted sharp criticism from the Franchise Council of Australia, but has been welcomed by franchisees who have been left without redress in disputes with their franchisor.
