States Vary in Friendliness Toward Entrepreneurs

The Small Business and Entrepreneurial Council, an entrepreneurship support and advocacy group, recently ranked states  by their friendliness to new businesses. Friendliness means factors such as low regulation, health care costs and crime rates. The 10 top-ranked states, in order, are:

1. South Dakota
2. Nevada   
3. Wyoming
4. Florida    
5. Washington
6. Texas      
7. South Carolina
8. Alabama
9. Virginia
10. Colorado

The District of Columbia came dead last 50th in figuring out how to support entrepreneurs.

Having voted with my feet in the past, this list compares favorably to my findings over the years.
