Subway, the Number One European Hangout

The coffee-house is dead, replaced by... Subway??!!

[Subway] has just surpassed McDonald’s in Europe in number of stores and plans to almost double in size within two years.

Although Subway offers sandwiches, its business profile — such as locations, late opening hours and range of goods — put it more in line with McDonald’s and KFC than other sandwich makers like Pret a Manger. [MetroBostonNews]

Not sure if this is a sign of the decline of European civilization, but Subway Sandwich shops have become "trendy" among young people.
