Taco Bell Loses Suit, Must Pay $42M to Chihuahua Creators

They are still fighting over that annoying dog! This goes back to when Bill Clinton was president, the housing market was booming and Wall Street was kicking butt. How times have changed.

A federal appeals court in Michigan told Taco Bell that they couldn't blame their ad agency for not properly paying $42 million to the creators of the 1990s Chihuahua ad, "Yo quiero Taco Bell."

The judge ruled that the buck stops at Taco Bell.

...Taco Bell blamed advertising agency TBWA Chiat/Day for stiffing the dog's creators. Taco Bell sued the ad agency over responsibility for the $42 million judgment. The 9th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals on Friday upheld a lower court's ruling making Taco Bell responsible for the payment. [Chicago Tribune]

$42 million...Taco Bell should now be eligible for TARP funding of a few billion to salve the wounds.
