Tennessee Introduces Senate/House Bills on Franchising

Exclusive: Tennessee Joins Kansas, Introduces Fair Franchise Bills in BOTH State House and Senate

NASHVILLE, Tenn (Blue MauMau) - On the heels of Kansas introducing the Responsible Franchise Practices Act, House Bill 2321, the state of Tennessee initiated its own version of franchise legislation in the form of two bills, Senate Bill 367 (pdf) and House Bill 322 (pdf).  Although the Tennessee Franchise Disclosure Act of 2007 does not appear to be as concise and strong-worded as the Kansas legislation, they do deal with good cause for termination and the enforcement issues for those companies that violate disclosure matters, as well as after-sale issues.

Senator Steve Southerland, sponsor for Senate Bill367, will not be available for comment until next week.
